Yawning is more contagious for women because they’re more empathetic, study find

Men caught a yawn on 40 per cent of occasions, while women did so nearly 55 per cent of the time.

In addition, studies in empathy suggest women are more sensitive than men to others’ emotions are so are more likely to mimic facial expressions.

Thus the team says their study ‘further supports the empathic ground of yawn contagion.’
