When you watch any political program on television, it’s really easy to get caught up in the grandiose speeches and the ‘larger-than-life’ personalities of the candidates. Each candidate is hoping to be perceived as powerful by voters/viewers. Yet, in a world that seems to grow darker and more violent everyday, maybe power is not what they should aim for. I have always said it is more important to be good than to look good, and the same goes for power.
Thus, the political goal of presidential candidates should above all else be empathy.
Empathy is power because it is what connects human beings to one another. It is the unwavering ability to understand through similar experience and sentiment.
