Empathy is a term that’s been thrown around and glorified a lot recently, especially in psychology and personal development fields. But I argue that empathy can leave some of us swimming blind in a soup of emotions without the slightest clue of how to navigate our feelings.
The Empathic Reaction
An empathic reaction would result in you feeling the same sense of panic and troubled breathing, leaving you unable to help. This response would serve nobody and render you paralyzed to help, and moreover leave you struggling with the pain of experiencing something that isn’t actually happening to you.
