Language That Denies Choice – Moral Judgment

Avoid the trap of moral judgments. Increase empathy, connection, and awareness by using value judgment instead.

Moralistic judgments are when we judge another person [often as wrong or bad] when they do things that are not in agreement with our values or we don’t understand. If you say
“You are selfish,”
“He is a lazy bum,”
“You are neurotic,”
“She did wrong,”
“You are too fat,”
you are making a moralistic judgment. For efficiency-sake, I’m going to call them “moral judgments”.
