Is there a correlation between trauma and empathy?
Is there any correlation between an individual having undergone trauma and their empathy toward others? This could either be general empathy or empathy toward people undergoing similar traumas. I’m particularly interested to know if the age at which trauma occurs and/or the duration and nature of the trauma affects the individual’s capacity for empathy and emotional connectedness.
