Five Ways to Make Mindfulness More Manly

Many more women than men enroll in mindfulness and compassion training courses. How can we change that?

 

That’s what I realize on the last class of Cultivating Compassion Training (CCT) at Stanford University. We’ve spent nine weeks strengthening our attention, building awareness of our bodies, and learning to confront pain in ourselves and in others—and throughout the course, male students were dropping out like twelfth seeded teams in the NCAA Basketball tournament.
